The 2019 McLester Awards Nominations
are now open!

2019 will be the 11th year the Mac McLester Awards will recognize
individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Austin
addiction/mental health recovery community.

2019 McLester Champion for Recovery Award: 
Honors a clinician or professional in a paid position serving
individuals who are in recovery from substance abuse and/or
mental health who has made a significant contribution
to the recovery community in Austin and/or Central Texas.

2019 McLester Spirit of Recovery Award: 
Honors an individual (non-professional) who has made
a significant contribution to the recovery community in Austin
and/or Central Texas primarily through volunteer work
offered without compensation.

Austin Area Opioid Work Group

The Opioid Work Group's mission will be to bring together
the recovery community to identify gaps in service, best practices,
needed and existing resources, and whatever else the group sees fit
to assist the population that has history or presently suffers
from opioid dependency.  This group will welcome and include
those that work with Medically Assisted Recovery Services as well
as the Harm Reduction community.  Please come share your experience
and your questions with us. 

This Work Group meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month.

Family Support Group Bi-Weekly Meeting

Austin Recovery Family Support Group

Austin Recovery offers a one hour weekly Family Support Group to assist
family members in their own process of healing.  It is not necessary
for a loved one to be in treatment at Austin Recovery
to participate in the family support group.

Goals of the program include:
*Help each member of a client's family acquire knowledge
about chemical dependency issues
*Gain understanding of how he/she has been personally affected
by this disease
*Learn new skills to cope with the dysfunction
created by addiction
*Develop support with other families in the same/similar situations

LGBTQ+ Peer Support Group
for persons living with a mental health or substance use concern

For anyone who identifies in the LGBTQ+ spectrum, ages 18+, who is living with a
mental health or substance use concern with or without a diagnosis.

Family and Friends Recovery is a group support meeting
for those who have loved ones living with substance use
and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. 
Come to learn and share the challenges and hope that come with
loving someone who may or may not be in recovery.
Any family member, friend, or ally over the age of 18 may attend. 


Integral Care

...is now offering weekly Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) classes in
Austin and Georgetown.

MHFA is a one-day training that teaches people how to help

someone who may be experiencing a mental health crisis
or is showing signs of mental illness or
substance use disorder. Thanks to a grant from the

St. David’s Foundation, no one will be turned away.
 However, a donation of $10 is welcome.

We are offering opportunities for organizations to sponsor lunch at the monthly general meetings.
This is a great opportunity to advertise your organization and show your support for change in the
Austin community. Each organization will get acknowledgement in the monthly newsletter and an
opportunity to speak in front current stakeholders to spread the word about what you do or
inform about new and exciting changes. Spots are filling up quickly so don't miss out. If you or
